FundaciĆ³ Godia Barcelona  •  Spain [ES]

Collection of Isabelle and Jean-Conrad Lemaître

For the fourth consecutive year, the Foundation joins Francisco Godia proposals Festival SCREEN video art festival featuring The Eyes of the Soul, an exhibition that comes from the private collection of French video art collectors Jean-Conrad and Isabelle Lemaître.

The show will see the public of Barcelona a selection of pieces that highlight the different techniques, realities and perspectives used in the field of video art through a variety of proposals. They exhibit a total of 17 video pieces by artists from different countries such as Tacita Dean, Christian Marclay, Melik Ohanian, Mathias Muller, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Walid Raad, Atlas Group, De Rijke & De Rooij, Frank Hesse, John Menick, Julien Crepieux, Julika Rudelius, Elisa puts, Melvin Moti, Ryan Gander, Klara Liden, Cecile Hartmann and Beatrice Gibson.

This exhibition of Isabelle and Jean-Conrad Lemaître’s collection - committed members of the LOOP fair comity - is in a sense, a way of talking about LOOP’s soul. Based on this idea, Nathalie Viot, curator of the exhibition and advisor for the collection since 2001, went through 106 video pieces and chose distinctly introspective works. In the selected pieces the dialogues, images, sounds and illuminations contain great emotion. These videos talk of childhood, ecology, restlessness of being part of this world and also of our disappearance.
